We held our regular monthly marketing meeting today with Sarah from Sarah Lamper PR who looks after our press and publicity. As we develop our business plan for the company these meetings become more and more involved and rewarding. Much of this meeting was spent brainstorming our proposed new services, thinking in particular about names for the services, tag lines, the client proposition and how the services were going to be run. As usual, we got bogged down in the issue of pricing with views varying between keeping the cost high so that the service is perceived as having real value, to keeping the cost as low as possible to attract more people. The prevailing view was that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, and what we are selling here is certainly not monkeys, but a range of very professional, comprehensive services to clients and that these should come with a reasonably high price tag. However, there will be room always for “offers” to make the services more attractive to consumers.
In the aftermath of the meeting, Annette did a lot of work on new brochures with new layouts and texts and in draft these look very attractive. Our next stage now is to move on to our website and totally re-vamp this to make it much more of a lead and income generating website than the static brochure that it currently is.
